description
This former bishop’s seat, restored with much love by a by a German married couple, meets the highest requirements in construction, planning and architecture.
The location – on a hill with a 360° view – is superb, as befits a bishop.  The panorama of gentle green hills crowned with mediaeval fortified towns, could not be more beautiful.
This delightful country house with natural stone front and many arches has been designed for two families:  the result is two large independent dwellings with large rooms, each with its own guest apartment with separate entrance. All rooms in the ground floor have direct access to the garden through large "french windows".
For the restoration, original, reclaimed materials have been used wherever possible. The floors consist of high-quality cotto, on the ground floor in traditional diagonal pattern, on the upper floor laid in squares.  Provision for the installation of fire-places has been made:  the new owner can decide on the style and materials.
The walls are in elegant creamy-white, emphasising the rustic style. Beautiful antique wooden doors (some with original handles and hinges) in dark brown and/or smoke-blue complement the timber beamed ceilings. The combination of high-quality dark-brown windows and original antique shutters results in all a warm, inviting atmosphere, which is not always present in buildings of this size.
The careful design and workmanship of all details (sauna, maintenance/services room, electrical connections, heating plant) meets the most exacting modern requirements.
The connections are ideal:  it is a 20-minute drive to the pretty bathing resort of Fano, which, with its safe, sandy beaches; large fishing port; its antique markets, speciality restaurants and cultural life, has much to offer. Fano was an important Roman city on the Via Flaminia, the trade route connecting Rome with the Adriatic coast.  The surrounding area is interesting from a historical and archaeological point of view..
The airport at Ancona, with daily international flights, can be reached in 40 minutes.  It is 20 minutes to the railway station and motorway junction at Fano and to the sandy beach.
This property is suitable as a continuous residence for a large family with staff and frequent guests or alternatively, for an income-generating activity with the  letting of three high-class apartments
